129. Letting You Go

They say honesty is the best policy
But when you told me, it nearly destroyed me
A bed laced with rose pedals wasn't enough
Who knew that letting you go would be so tough?

You're so young, you've got a world ahead of you
Who am I to try and keep you subdued?
I got too attached and hoped for the best
The pain that followed didn't let me rest

Couldn't blame you, you had so much to learn
I admit, it could never be my turn
I set you free and hope you prosper
I know we won't ever be together
