I hate being so emotional

Being so hungry for approval

Afraid of being taken for granted

Left feeling lost, confused, and frantic

“Don't be vulnerable

It's not acceptable"

Seems to be our daily anthem

Chanting it like a holy manta

What good is it to be so caring and kind?

To always be wearing my heart on my sleeve?

Appreciation can be so hard to find

Even then, I still choose to firmly believe

That our paths were meant to cross for a reason

Your presence in my life is what I needed

You inspired me to come out of my shell

Your words offered me peace as I went through hell

With you next to me, I want to give my best

You help me see the good in life, feeling blessed

Sure, there are times things could feel complicated
